Remigo × ExpoDeko:
Bag for a revolutionary electric outboard motor
Slovenian partnership, global reach.
Challenge
Remigo from Ljubljana has developed one of the lightest and most innovative electric outboard motors in the world, Remigo — a motor sold globally and praised by both enthusiasts and experts. However, an innovative motor needs an equally exceptional bag: robust enough for worldwide transport, well-padded to protect sensitive electronics from impacts, and sustainable enough to reflect the brand's values.
Challenges we had to solve:
- The motor weighs around 12–13 kg and contains sensitive electronics and a battery — impact protection was crucial.
- The bag must be suitable for carrying on the back and in the hand.
- The material must be resistant to UV radiation, moisture, and high temperatures — as the motor is used in a marine environment.
- The client requested recycled materials in line with their sustainability philosophy.
- The appearance and quality must match the level of a premium product sold globally.

Version V3, still without integrated padding
Our solution and innovation
Developing the bag for Remigo required thoughtful material choices, technical innovation, and multiple iterations. The goal was not just to create a premium bag, but a solution that is high-quality, technically innovative, and economically viable for small-scale production. .
Recycled premium material
For the base, we chose Sioen B9146 — a high-quality Belgian technical textile from special series (leftovers and overproduction at the manufacturer, quality A1). This achieved two goals simultaneously: exceptional material quality and a sustainable approach by reducing waste in the textile industry.
The material provides UV resistance, antibacterial protection, fire resistance (M2/B1), and temperature resistance from -40°C to +70°C.
Padding between two PVC sheets
The biggest technical challenge was protecting the motor from impacts. We developed our own method, where EPE-Z foam from a Slovenian manufacturer is inserted and welded between two PVC sheets using high-frequency welding — making the shock absorber an integral part of the bag's construction, unable to move, shrink, or fall out. The result is uniform protection of the motor across the entire surface, without weak points.
Iterations to perfection
The final solution didn't come overnight. Through three development iterations, we gradually refined the shape, cushioning system, and placement of closures and support elements — until the bag fully met the requirements for protection, ergonomics, and appearance.

Marko Vrtovec (CEO)
"In developing the bag for Remigo, we needed a partner who understood our requirements and could respond quickly. ExpoDeko was exactly that—responsive, proactive, and always a step ahead in finding solutions. Instead of waiting for our instructions, they suggested improvements and guided us through the process. The result is a bag worthy of the engine it carries."
Ajda Bertok (Designer)
"I had a clear vision—the bag must communicate the identity of the Remigo brand: clean, premium, innovative. ExpoDeko understood this vision and brought it to life. Together, we created a completely new bag where every detail—from materials to cuts and closures—reflects our brand. Their technical solutions allowed us to translate the design concept into a product that looks and functions exactly as we envisioned."
